Date: Day 12, Thursday 12 May To: Igor Karkaroff From: Regulus Black
Dear Igor
Thanks for your Owl. I appreciate you reaching out and yes, I wasn't so sure I'd still be here at this point- but fortunately, I have managed to survive. Turns out that your prediction panned out with Pyrites finally running out of lives. He had quite a run though. I appreciate the tip off about Wood probably being next too- I'll see how things go heading into council, but that info might just come in handy. And I can definitely see the logic in that move for you guys as I group. Hopefully that bodes well for things moving forward. That info about further context behind our mess of a council before the swap fills things out a bit better for me, because in the flurry of all that happened I never really got the answers I was looking for. As Malfoy and myself have kind of unspokenly agreed to put that behind us for now and not dwell on that.
Over here, I don't really know how things are going to go. Everyone seemed very focused on the challenge and we planned for it really well. As far as chat about a vote, there wasn't a lot. I too am looking forward to hopefully chatting in more detail at merge. Communicating via Owl is really not the same as a proper conversation.
Anyway, I am just doing this note after 8:15, considering the .... mixup with timings. So don't have a lot of time to write a full note.
Best wishes for the day ahead

Congratulations once again on reaching the Merge! We were ready to shut down Owl Post now that there is only one Side and everyone is well within reach of your Patronus Missives, but apparently we still have more time remaining on our contract with the Owls. And now they're eager to keep working? With consistent hours? ![::)](http://images.proboards.com/new/rolleyes.gif) We don't pretend to understand how their birdbrains work. But we don't have much of a choice in the matter. Therefore, will be repurposing our Owleries. From now on, you may send Owl Post each morning to the Gallery of portraits lurking in the walls, and to the Cancelled players gathered in St Mungos. They can't influence your Game at all, but they're also interested in it. And while they can't read your regular Diary Journal entries, this is your chance to entertain them directly with the inside scoop... or not; it's entirely up to you. The only restriction is that unlike your relative freedom on this sub-board, your letter cannot include anything relating to your ID, or your PBvO partner's. We guarantee that nothing you send in Owl Post will get back to any players still in the Game, or to the Wizengamot. The character limit is being halved to a 1000 character maximum, but the deadline to submit Owl Post is still 8:30am, starting again on Sunday. The owls are pleased with this arrangement, and while your participation is by no means compulsory, we hope that you will also continue to enjoy their services. Doing so regularly is in the interests of both our collective entertainment and the Ministry's legal liability.

To Lestrange Day 13 From Regulus
I'm carrying the flame, my friend. Got through a potentially tricky swap and am feeling okayish. You should never have left. Not in the way you did. You're a champ!

Can I please have some clarification as to what this actually is? And in what circumstances does it find its way here? Dolores Umbridge can you help?

Date: Day 16 Monday 16 May To: Kingsley Shacklebolt From: Regulus Black
King! You got a harsh deal, my friend. I tried getting a vote onto Wood, or Malfoy last night- but people were just too scared to make a move. Not realising that by losing you, those not in the power nucleus are actively losing ground and weakening their spot. Without you, or Moody online last night, our chances really weakened of getting something going. Then it was supposed to be Moody, only for him to be immune- so things fell onto you. You deserved better. I had fun with you here, King. Stick around if you can? I'll continue your legacy in your honour

Hoping that all is okay with your health after covid? Your case sounded particularly rough, so I'm wishing you all the best in recovering.
Your exit actually started a rather funny trend whereby everyone who I start building a solid relationship with gets eliminated! Yet ironically, Malfoy, who I've had a rivalry with since the first round and have gone to each council with, has survived. I haven't told him this, but I'm kind of playing it like a Dave Wright & Kel Wentworth S38 style thing where we push each others name out there, but don't quite pull the trigger. I'm actually hoping he is immune this time so this pattern can continue as I think I have his measure. I'm probably closest with Fleur of the remaining players and so no surprise, she's being targeted right now. It's a weird game structure as there's lots of people oversharing, which can make it hard to pull something off, but also makes it easier to massage the paranoia of certain people.
See you at the finale!

Surely these are just aesthetic and aren't actually leading to a game advantage?

Date: Day 19, May 19 To: Rodolphus Lestrange From: Regulus Black
Got him! Switched on the revote to take out Mal- now I'm hoping to keep rolling on. If I can sneak through this round, I think the game will open up. So the votes went Mal: Diggle-Fleur-Potter-Moody Wood: Malfoy-Crouch-Yax-Black Diggs:Wood Then on the re-vote, Wood's Diggle vote was invalid & converted into a self vote. I flipped onto Malfoy. Oh & my streak of picking up votes at every council since you left has finally broken. Theoretically, Diggle should be under the pump. I wouldn't mind a Diggle/Wood switch tbh.
Fleur is still my #1, but she's too close to Potter, who's obviously the biggest player & has been playing a winning game since early in the game. Everyone seems to be close to Potter. I could have kept Malfoy, but he'd likely just be a vote magnet again. I kind of need more chances to take out Potter. I'll probably push for Diggle next. But then at 7, I'll be angling to remove the last pair by shooting for Potter. But even then, it's going to be dicey. Potter is very well insulated.

Igor!
I notice that you've been checking in & so I wanted to send you a post I've essentially been cockroaching along- collecting votes, but have kept sailing along. Things are looking relatively okay for me despite not really ever being in a power position though. Because as you'd be aware, we are heading for a final 2 this season, which really opens up my path to win. If things can go my way tonight, I have realistic win potential by knocking out more visible power players and then riding with someone with less relationships on the jury. But am currently seen as a goat. You & I essentially had to play this game without partners & the partners have consistently held majority and banded together. If I can squeak through to the end, I think I have a reasonable story of succeeding in spite of the twist- compared to others who have succeeded because of it. Every relationship I form gets eliminated soon after - which has remained consistent since day 1. Which is also a fun sub-plot.

Date: Day 23, May 23 To: Pyrites From: Regulus Black
Hey Py Well, I tried everything I could to keep your buddy Moody around. But as has been the norm for me, things didn't unfold the way I hoped. I tried to make the most of being immune for what is theoretically the most crucial vote at 7 to make a play, but the status quo continued. It's been a slog to make any headway for just about the entire game for me, but I'm sticking around. In part it's because I'm seen as a good person to sit next to at the end - which would now be even more clear with Moody out. I haven't been able to steer the ship, or even have my opinion considered and today it kinda sucked when there was the 5 in power all online at the same time as me for like an hour, maybe more and I didn't get a single message during that time. I have some reasonable relationships on the jury, but don't know how influential they'll be - given my lack of control over the game. Beyond that, I hope that you keep sticking around. See you at the finale!
