Throughout The ORG of the Phoenix you will be able to put your spellcasting skills to good use by deciding to Switch or Flick every round. Here's how it works: - Each round you should make a post in this thread, casting one of the two special charms: Switch or Flick. For instance: If you post SWITCH, a magical contract will exist between you and your Pureblood vs Order partner during the round's vote. In the event that your partner is voted out from the Order Side, this contract will stop them from being eliminated from The ORG of the Phoenix. Instead, you and they will immediately switch Sides - the next round will begin with them joining the Death Eater, and you joining the Order Side. If you post FLICK, your Pureblood vs Order partner will remain vulnerable to being voted out if they attend Magical Council, and eliminated from the Game for good. To cast a charm: - You need to post either SWITCH or FLICK in this thread before the voting deadline of 9:30pm AEST. - You may post your decision for a new round in this thread as soon as the round begins. Usually this will be after the prior round's Magical Council, when the new round's Immunity Challenge is posted in the Hogwarts Grounds. You do not need to wait for the Challenge Results confirming which Side will be attending Magical Council. - You may change your decision as many times as you wish before a round's voting deadline. As with your Magical Council votes, the final charm you post before the deadline passes will be taken as your final decision. - If you fail to post a decision for the round in this thread before the round's voting deadline, you will be deemed to have cast the Flick charm. Please also note the following stipulations: - The Ministers will never reveal which charms you cast to any other player. Nobody will know what you post in this thread unless you tell, or unless your Switch charm does save a player from elimination, and you then switch Sides. - You must be an active participant in the Switch and Flick twist in order to be saved by it. If your partner gets eliminated without posting a valid charm before the deadline in that round, they would leave the Game no matter which charm you decided to cast; if you get eliminated without posting a valid charm before the deadline, you will leave the game regardless of which charm your partner cast. - Once somebody has already been saved from elimination by a Switch charm once, they cannot receive this protection again. If they are voted out again they will leave the game no matter which charm their partner decided to cast. Finally, there are Ministry regulations restricting this special version of the Switch charm. You may cast it as many times as you like, but only up until it has saved a total of two players from elimination. From then on this Switch charm will be ineffective. If you have any questions about the Switch and Flick twist, please ask the Ministers in this thread. It is also where you should post your decisions every round, starting with your charm for Round 1, which is due by 9:30pm on Tuesday 3 May.

Are you willing to confirm if or how Switch will work once we hit merge?

I can't confirm anything other than what's written above. And as I'm sure you've noticed much of it revolves around there being Sides to Switch.

I have noticed that, among other things. I'm writing a proper confessional response about it, but figured I may as well just ask you about the Merge rather than speculating pointlessly on the off-chance you would just tell me ![:P](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

Kind of an unlikely hypothetical, but I'm assuming casting Switch on someone is the equivalent of them having an immunity idol, where all votes against them are negated? I was going to further assume if all votes are negated by this twist it goes into the standard tie-breaker mode but I'm re-reading the rules thread and noticing that how tie-breakers actually work isn't listed?
Also, what happens in the unlikely case every single player picks Switch in the same round?

You've confused the order of operations some. Somebody will get voted out at Magical Council based on the Side's votes. Then there's a possibility that the player voted out will be saved by a Switch Charm, but that doesn't mean a different player goes out instead. So if the Switch charm were used effectively then nobody would leave the Game fully as a result of that Magical Council.

Wait, what?
So if Switch works out, no one goes home that round?

That is correct.

... Do you have a plan for if the game stalls out by weeks? In theory the 20 of us could prevent each other from going home 20 times, and at a rate of 5 elims a week, that's a month of extra time.

Oh, I completely misunderstood that line.
That's embarrassing, I have nearly 1000 words written about a hypothetical based on that misunderstanding.

Oh it's much worse that just having not read that line. I parsed it as Finally, there are Ministry regulations restricting this special version of the Switch charm. Want to guess where my brain went when I thought we'd all be in positions to save two different players with this power? ![:lol](https://i.imgur.com/X4ixXao.gif)

Quick clarification on House Points; do we get points for each time we complete a task, only the first time, or only the first time each? As an arbitrary example, lets pretend "Receive an Owl Post" is worth five points; if both Diggle and I receive one this round and next round, do we have 5, 10, or 20 points from it?

I can't answer that, as it would depend on the nature of the task. We've written full breakdowns for every item and then tried to phrase them in the most logical way on the small parchment you can see, so that the most sensible interpretation of what's written there will be correct. It's possible that some tasks could stack points if accomplished multiple times. It's also possible that some tasks would only yield points the first time they are achieved. If you were able to read the full line describing a particular task you would probably be able to presume which of those applies; if you can't read the full line I'm not going to say anything which could give it away.

Hmm. Setting aside the challenges and items (they seem intentionally unclear right now), I'm not sure how clear it is if "Voting for the Same Player as your Partner" will award points if done multiple times or not? Obviously if we wind up together we could vote together as many times as there are rounds until we're separated but I don't know if that means we score 12 points each time? I don't think we can meaningfully make progress on any of these right now, so I'm going to not worry about it for now.
Anyways, I just realized while responding to this that I'm asking my questions in the wrong thread, sorry about that. I'll switch back to my welcome thread for any other questions and leave this to be for just Switch/Flick stuff.
