So we've mentioned various fanfiction properties in some prior Challenges, but have so far held back from plunging headfirst into that rabbit-hole. This ends today!

Because for today's Challenge you're going to be perusing some of the best, worst and most absurd Harry Potter fanfiction the internet has to offer. On the one hand, the fanfic world has something for everyone so you can always find what you're looking for. On the other hand, the fanfic world seriously has something for everyone, so finding the gems which sparkle brightest to you often requires wading through some content which is... less relatable.
The other aspect of HP fanfiction we'll be celebrating and commemorating today is the dreaded Potterdämmerung - the fact that the release of Deathly Hallows and the endings contained within consigned a substantial portion of the internet's fanfiction (from both before and afterward) to being forever considered 'Non-Canon'. Anyone who imagined a different ending, the survival/death of different characters, the coupling up of alternate Ships - their imaginations were no longer possible continuations of the series, but deviations into an Alternate Universe ("AU").
To begin this Challenge, join the Member Group 'I'm Like A Storyteller'. You'll then gain access to two things: a reading list of AU fanfiction, and a Venn Diagram. You'll need to follow the link to each fanfic provided and figure out where to place them within that Venn Diagram, matching each fanfic to a capital letter shown on the Venn Diagram. The idea is that every fanfic placed within every circle should exhibit the property listed upon that circle - or the properties on all the circles enclosing it, if the region falls in an overlap between circles.
Here's an example of how the Venn Diagram will work, using our Ministers rather than any fanfiction:

To complete this Venn Diagram you'd need to place the Ministers Peter, Dolores, Minerva, Severus and Bellatrix into the regions labelled with the blue letters A through E. You can only put each name in one place.
You can see that the name you match with the letter C should be a Death Eater, and E should be an Order Member, but D - falling within the overlap between both circles - should be both. On the other hand, B sits outside of all the circles so must bear none of the properties listed in any circle.
The solution to this example is:
A. Severus
B. Dolores
C. Bellatrix
D. Peter
E. Minerva
B. Dolores
C. Bellatrix
D. Peter
E. Minerva
The actual Challenge will contain many more circles, with more overlaps, for a total of 16 regions labelled A through P. And of course you'll be matching fanfics to letters rather than Minister names. Still there are some lessons worth noting from this example:
- The rule that no circle properties should apply is only relevant to the region outside all the circles - in the above example, this would be B. However, it is perfectly okay to place a fanfic in one enclosed regions when it could also theoretically match the properties of another enclosed region - hence Severus in the example would still fit in C despite also qualifying for A, and he would still fit in D despite qualifying for C. All that matters is whether he fulfills the exact requirements for the region in which you place him.
- However, although Severus could be placed in C or in D above, this would leave you with no other name to place in A. You may find similar cases in the actual Challenge, where many different fanfics could fit into some regions of the Venn Diagram, but you'll still need to choose between them carefully in order to fill every region.
- In this example there is only one perfect solution which makes all the Ministers fit in all the regions. We can't be certain that the actual Challenge has a unique solution, but we do know it has at least one

There is one more key difference between this example and the actual Challenge: your list of fanfics will be significantly larger than the number of regions you need to fill. So you'll need to spend some time looking through the fanfiction to see which ones are at all relevant to any of the regions, and be prepared to leave some of them off your answer list entirely.
To complete the Challenge, submit an alphabetical list from A to P just like the one quoted above in the example (including the fanfic names rather than Minster names). You can only post the list once, in full, and we will accept no changes after this first post. So please check all your answers before you submit.
We'll give you one point for each fanfic which meets the criteria of the region you've placed it in, and the player with the most points will win Individual Immunity for themselves and for their Immunity Pair partner if they have one. In the event of a tie for first place, we'll use submission time to decide the winner. You don't need to match a fanfic to every letter/region; we'll score anything that you have correct regardless.
We're also implementing a time limit for this Challenge so that nobody spends too long searching for a perfect solution, when something less than that could still be enough to win. Anything you submit more than 30 minutes after the time you join the Member Group will not be accepted - be sure to set a timer, and to post your best guesses before the half hour elapses.
Finally, because the idea here is to skim through the fanfics and get a sense of them as though you were looking for a fun one to read or lamenting the overall cruelty imposed by the closing of HP Canon, it is absolutely sufficient to only read the summary at the top of each linked page; you do not need to spend any time reading the actual fanfics.
You must complete this Challenge by 8:30pm AEST tomorrow.

We know you'll have plenty of questions about some of what you'll find out there - the internet can be a strange place
