8th Place - Fleur Delacour Played by EuroDanielle"I don't know who's telling the truth and who isn't and it's at least partially my own fault for not adhering to my own game philosophy of keeping things simple."
"Tbh if they were smart they probably would get rid of me sooner rather than later because me with nothing to lose is something you don't want to face" Peter Pettigrew It's always a privilege to watch you in action, doubly so to be hosting you in one of my own Games and watching you grapple with concepts we usually workshop together. Your commitment to the character play here - adding accents and italicising letters even while travelling and stuck to mobile - had me smiling even while you honed it during confirmations, and it almost outshone your impeccable game instincts and wondrous social game. You were the center of Grimauld Place without even intending to be, up until Lily/Wood bonded over the Item. But even before that, you and Tonks had been clocked as the the most sociable Side Buddies and it was a reputation Lily would never let you shake. Still, you found a way to control whatever you could, and made it look effortless right up until the end. Obviously you were robbed of the PBvO element prematurely, but you still understood the full scope of it better than the other unpaired players come the merge - when the pairs decreed somebody else must be the Merge boot your name was never in contention and nobody even bat an eyelid at that But alas Lily did notice when Lucius couldn't even get Wood to vote for you over himself So you just were a smidgen too late to realise when they'd united for good, and a touch too hopeful about Lily and Diggle to see that they were willing to risk a swing at you first, that soon. And it was a risk; note that their threat levels ballooned too early once you were removed, even aside from what could have been had the unpaired got on the same page even the very next round - as I have no doubt they would have, had you still been in the mix. Unfortunately, too many people realised that you were just too good, and while I know that you're often able to prevent that realisation from ever coalescing, Fleur's manner making it obvious from Day 1 but still managing it effortlessly until Final Eight, alone in a PBvO game, is surely among the most impressive Danielle runs I've seen. Well played! Dolores Umbridge First of all, I'm in love with your dedication to the shtick here. It's such a rarity in the Aussie meta for shtick to me much beyond surface level, so to see you embrace it thoroughly was a delight! And Fleur herself was a standout, I called you early as the HWIC of the Order, and you remained one of the most openly threatening and respected players throughout. I've mentioned in the blogs that this was an interesting (and fun) position for me to watch you from, since Midna and Zeniba were masterful at appearing unassuming before it was far too late- and that wasn't possible with Fleur. It was inevitable you'd eventually be taken out because of this, but I was pretty convinced for a while that you were once again end-game bound. At the merge you were one of the safest players, well integrated and I've no doubt you'd have managed to successfully play off the pairs all the way to the end if given the opportunity. That you were taken out at the last moment before that scenario occurred was tough, but that's a testament to how much of a player you were. It was amazing to watch you play from the front- it's often much more freeing that way, and I think you felt that too.

Couldn't have asked for a better partner considering my very first game with this community. You did so amazing Fleur/Danielle, the way you play just comes across so effortless when I'm sure it's anything but. Super super bummed out that we never had a chance to reunite unfortunately

7th Place - Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody Played by Sheebshib"I got a PhD today and still kept up on my messages!"
"Honestly my head's whirring about trying to make sense of all these dynamics. It's convoluted and I consistently grow less and less comfortable with my place in it and the direction I want to go." Peter Pettigrew Sheebshib is probably the most diehard Harry Potter fan of us all, and essentially jumped through Quidditch hoops to make this work even in casting, doing the responsible thing and dropping out due to uncertainty only to dive back in as soon as we had another drop. And boy am I glad we made this happen, because Moody was everything I could have dreamed and more - not just an iconic character brought fully to life, but thinking and acting exactly how the real Mad-Eye (not you Barty!) would have played this: gruff around the warmer edges, loyal to a fault, CONSTANTLY VIGILANT! but also jaded, exhausted and very much over the squabbling and the drama of the littluns Your presence here was a big part of what made this Game work its magic in the specific arena we'd discussed together - lifting the story away from its creator and taking the fandom to new heights. And for that I couldn't be more grateful But all that's before talking Game! Because Moody was the best dark horse to take this out for the longest time. Building new structures outside of the original Order core of players active on Day 1, leveraging new relationships and even your partner at the Swap, carefully shoring up your relationships at the Merge (the moment the paired players finally realised they'd all wanted to keep you in play from the start but had been too cagey to compare notes for three days was rather fun) and then invited into the pairs alliance as the likely tiebreaker come Final Five... only to have all that blown up by the Order Item (Diggle's Moody-inspired paranoia having burned yours), the Immunity Pairs, and your objectively healthy choice to sleep at night. Part of me badly wishes that you'd set an alarm that morning, whipped Regulus/Wood into line and overturned the majority with a reflection of their own plurality split from the previous round. For while Wood and Regulus both stumbled along and completed their story arcs beyond that particular incompetence, yours was tragically cut short by their poor communication earlier in the round But as Moody well knows, the curse that gets you always come when you least expect it, whether or not you and your story feel ready or resolved. I just hate how fitting it is, because you were simply that good. Dolores Umbridge So I don't think I've ever seen you play before, despite recognizing your name. So I had no idea what to expect- but can now confirm that you are great! From character play, to game play, to attitude, you ticked all the boxes for me- thanks for taking a chance on an off timezone game. I know you are a huge Harry Potter fan which was the draw, and I hope the game fulfilled all the expectations on that front. I'm glad you were around long enough to experience most of it, cos Peter went deep down the iceberg here. I really thought at one point that you were perfectly positioned to take this out- finding the idol the way you did was a huge moment, and nobody was worrying about you despite you managing that right under everyone's nose. And you were well positioned at merge, but unfortunately the timezone difference kinda prevented you from getting into the thick of things, so you couldn't really make use of all the good work you'd done. It was frustrating for you I'm sure, but even with that you'd still have had an excellent shot at the end had you just squeaked by one more round. But all in all, Moody was a bright spot in this game and a real pleasure to host. Special shout out to your amazing voice confessionals by the way, they were amazing and had me cackling.
